Why is Rain such a Risk?

Rainwater can cause a variety of water-related damage to a house without properly functioning gutters, including:

  • Foundation erosion: Rainwater can erode the soil around the foundation, causing water to drain toward the foundation instead of away from it. This can lead to foundation settling, which can cause walls to part, separating the foundation from the rest of the home.

  • Damage to siding: Rainwater can damage siding.

  • Mold and mildew: High moisture creates an environment for mold growth, which can spread around the home.

  • Basement flooding: Uncontrolled roof water run-off can dampen the basement and crawl space.

  • Garden erosion: Rainwater can wash away soil faster than falling rainwater, causing garden erosion.

  • Rotting fascia and trim: Too much water can lead to rotting fascia and trim.

  • Drywall cracks and uneven floors: Soil erosion can cause the chimney to settle, which can lead to drywall cracks and uneven floors.
